"Alone, With G-d:" A Visual Journey Through the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Journals

Living in Berlin with his wife when the Nazi party came to power, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson found himself escaping further and further south, first to Paris, then to Vichy, in a desperate attempt to escape the Gestapo’s terrifying circle of death.

All the while, he kept a private journal, in which he recorded primarily thoughts in Torah study. At once poetic and tragic, these entries bring to life a mind grappling with the horrors of surrounding world events while finding faith and solace in the sacred texts and ideas of his people.

Eventually escaping to the United States, Rabbi Schneerson would eventually become the Lubavitcher Rebbe, renowned for his leadership in rebuilding World Jewry after the Holocaust.

Combining a live reading of some the journal’s entries with footage from the time and place in which they were written, “Alone, With G-d,” offers an unprecedented glimpse into the thinking of an important Jewish leader.
